My Final Goodbye
by Lady Lee ini want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.
i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.
i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.

"To those of you who have sat silently and watched and read over the last few weeks I hope you can look into your conscience and say you did the right thing. That you took a stand. That your moral compass is still working" ..Some would feel that quotes such as the above, and others I'm not copying again, make Lady Lee's view of those who said nothing (in what exact context I'm unsure though) abundantly clear. Others such as Mindblown feel that she was saying that those who said nothing were taking a stand of their own.. At the end of the day, what difference does it make? Lady Lee has refused to clarify/discuss what she said in 1 post that is fairly ambigous as a whole.. Why should anyone feel that it is wrong, or even slanderous to discuss the meaning of an intriguing statement, when no negative assertions about her overall character have been made? If it was a passive-aggressive statement or a fond farewell with a moral undertone, what difference does it make to your life or hers? Can't we just agree to disagree and move on.. The thing that draws me to this site over and over again, and that changed my life, is the diversity of thought and free exchange of views.. Just throwing out terms like 'slanderous', even whilst cushioned with words like 'to me personally' (I thought that something is either slander or it is not), can only fuel further fighting or reduce freedom of speech in my view.

The Quiet One
Here's the myth: "Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposedto cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore [soldiers would] be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous weapon was made of the native English yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as"plucking the yew." Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, "See, we can still pluck yew!" http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1279/whats-the-origin-of-the-finger

"Now for the facts. The 'one-finger salute,' or at any rate sexual gestures involving the middle finger, are thousands of years old." http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1279/whats-the-origin-of-the-finger

Ah, but zed.. You are evidently not considering the historical context of the middle finger plucking the longbow and the French, which was not vulgar/obscene and CLEARLY Marvin decides on whether the context/usage of a word is vulgar or not.. (sarcasm, i know that's nonsense)

Secret disfellowshipping in Adsense
by joe134cd ini was just reading the thread on the secret disfellowshipping of the menlo park elders.
obviously the society didn't want the bad press and was hoping to sweep it under the carpet that is why it was secret and the defendants weren't there.
to me this is not only unfair but totally bizarre and weird.how can some one be disfellowshiped and yet not know that they are disfellowshiped.
